I'm not much of a poet. I do think it has a nice prose-y sort of style. I think it also discusses a lot about what's on our minds today... life is fleeting, and we're trying to hard to hold onto it.
I love the imagery in this. It reminds me of the cinematography from Greta Gerwigs Little Women, where Jo tells Laurie she can’t marry him. In the distance is the church steeple hurried deep in the foliage of the forest between them and the village. This distance a visual representation of their relationship.
This entire series has been profound, beautiful, and heartbreaking all at the same time. There are few things I've read that capture the ups and downs, the dejection and hope of long-term love like these poems. I can't wait to read the entire project.
Thanks Eric, hopefully mid-2026 I will publish the entire collection, perhaps pre-orders beforehand. I'm proud of what's been created to date - but more to do.
Good Lord have mercy! This is a brilliant piece of writing! It explodes with imagery and emotion! I can almost taste some of the lines, like this: "A crow arcs maudlin in the southern sky.
The sunset drips bittersweet grenadine trails". Absolutely savorable! Printing this one! 🌟🌟🌟
Beautiful!

What stood out about this piece?
Quietly and profoundly beautiful.
This is devastatingly good.

Thank you for sharing. 💜🦋
Being a Brit, and Devil's Dyke being a place in East Sussex - this makes a ton of sense.
The last stanzas got me. And how you beautifully built up to them.
Thanks!
Gut punch. Full stop.
Oofff! Hope it didn't wind you too much
Agreed!!!!

Hah Well, I'll have to have you sign it before I frame it!
Naturally!
in these teenage bedrooms with hopes dismantled day by day. This whole poem hit home but I love this line
